Our Story
We first met in 2021. Abigail was working at the hotel owned by the company Preston works for. Preston was in the process of developing a new hotel right next door. Though we ran into each other a bit, we wouldn't really start talking for another year.
Once Abigail got back from studying in Italy in January 2022, we really started to hit it off. Preston was at the hotels almost every day to walk the construction site. However, people started noticing he was spending more time talking to Abigail than doing his job.
Eventually, Preston got the courage to ask Abigail out, and we officially started dating on April 1, 2022! After being introduced to each other's families, we spent time camping with Mossers and Spahrs, and traveled all over the country to watch Luke run!
We spent much of 2022 going to weddings, concerts, the MN State Fair, SDSU games with the Scarboroughs, and Florida for Disney and the Artemis I launch.
We also learned how to sail!
2023 saw Abigail's college graduation and our big trip around North and South Dakota to visit both relatives and national parks! We also went to San Antonio for the solar eclipse and began our annual tradition of seeing the Julians (and Steelers) in Pittsburgh!
In 2024, we took our trip to Ireland to visit Abigail's friend, Sean, and followed that with two weeks in Italy; vising Perugia, Rome, and the Amalfi Coast. Later that year we biked the 109-mile Mickelson trail.
The Proposal
In 2025, Abigail decided to spend a month in Prague, Czech Republic and go through a course to get her Teaching English as a Second Language certificate. Upon obtaining that certificate, Preston flew out to visit her and spend time vacationing together in the Czech Republic and Austria. After a couple days of transitioning into vacation-mode, on 5/20/25 while having coffee on a balcony overlooking Prague, Preston asked Abigail to marry him...
